Division of the Intel Processors: Types of Intel Processors

Intel is the leading processor manufacturing company till now. As compared to the AMD the Intel processors have many advantages over the AMD; the one of the main reason is the TDP or the heat produced by the AMD processors are more as compared to the Intel processers. That’s why the AMD processors require a very good cooling unit.

Intel i7 processor series

The Intel Processors are basically divided into three types:
1.       Mainstream
2.      Extremes
3.      Xenon’s

Mainstream processors the processors which are designed for the normal purpose user like we. The Mainstream processors include the series of Pentium, Celeron, Atom, & I series. Mostly today’s users are using the I series processors and the Atom processors are very rarely used. These all processors have the architecture of the 32 bit and 64 bit both. As the I series is mostly so I will considering the I series to explain you the various types of processors. Basically the Intel has manufactured the I series processors in the odd numbers that is i3, i5, i7, i9 processors.

Intel i3 processor series

Now the i7 1st generation processor was the first processor introduced by the Intel. Many people has the misconception that i3 is the first processor but that is not true i7 is the first processor to be introduced. As the i7 was the very high end processor at that which was not affordable by the normal people so the Intel decided to launch a affordable processor. So they introduced the i3 and i5 produced and later on kept on bringing the new generations.

Intel i3 latest processor consists of both the 32 bit and 64 bit architecture processor, with hyper threading. Overclocking is provided to only few processors. They are mainly dual core processors. Intel i5 consist of only 64 bit architecture processor. The hyper threading and the TDP technology are compulsory provided to i5 processor. The Intel i7 and i9 processors very high end processor with the lithography of 14 nm and soon will be able to see a 10 nm lithography processor from Intel; As Intel is working to develop a 10 nm lithography processor.

Extreme processors are the processors which are designed for the users which are doing work more than normal users like a very high end programming, high quality video editing, and developing purpose.  These processors have very number of cores and threads with high clock speed that enables the user to perform the multitasking. The cache memories provided in these processors are very high. These processors are generally identified with an E at the end of the processor no.

Xenon processors are the processors which are designed especially for the servers. These processors has the have tremendous amount of cores and threads with very high clock speed and very high cache memory. These processors are generally identified with an X at the end of the processor no.

I hope you might have got the concept of the division of the Intel processors. Do choose a right processor. If you have any doubts do write in comments or mail me.
